CORA

RENOVATION PROJECT: Rebekah Children’s Services

HIF, Saarman Construction, and Karlee Coble Interiors have created a beautiful environment for the clients of CORA, a domestic violence agency located in San Mateo.

HIF and Saarman Construction, along with Karlee Coble Interiors and several generous vendors, have created a beautiful environment for the clients of CORA, a domestic violence agency located in San Mateo, to ‘shop’ for new household goods as they prepare to move into their into new apartments and onto the next phase of reclaiming their lives and independence.

CORA is the only agency in San Mateo County solely dedicated to helping those affected by intimate partner abuse. From counseling, to emergency housing, to legal assistance, CORA’s services are designed to provide safety, support, and healing.

Most domestic violence shelters and agencies offer some kind of support as clients transition out. Through HIF’s Renovation Program, they are now the first DV organization with this kind of high quality and fully realized asset for this delicate and important next step in their journey.

We also renovated CORA’s lobby and atrium areas and created a refreshed and vibrant environment for staff and clients alike.

Because of the generous support of our HIF Champions and vendors, there was no cost to CORA with a project market value of over $90,000.

“Tony’s Closet (named in honor of our facilities manager Tony Myles) was a passion project two years in the making. Thanks to the incredible generosity of HIF, Saarman Construction, and HIF’s vendors,  we were able to make our dream a reality.

From day one, HIF understood our vision and commitment to creating a boutique store where CORA clients could be gifted brand new home goods as they transitioned out of our safe houses. Most importantly, they understood the need to create an atmosphere of love, dignity, and respect for our clients as is clearly demonstrated in the quality of [Saarman’s and the vendor’s] workmanship and their attention to detail in every aspect of our store.

We are all deeply grateful to HIF and Saarman Construction for building Tony’s Closet, creating a lasting legacy that will change the lives of countless CORA clients forever.”
