In 2025, HIF and vendor champion Smart Building completed a renovation project AACI: Asian Woman’s Home!
With the support of Aquatek, ABCabient, HD Supply, and Champion Smart Building, we were able to add two kitchen islands along with an additional sink and disposal to meet the shelter’s need for increased cooking and prep space, storage, and improved flow during meal times. These improvements significantly enhance safety and health for both residents and staff.
AACI was founded in 1973 to advocate for and serve the Southeast Asian refugees that were resettling in the Bay Area. AACI provides culturally competent mental health services, and over the past 50 years their services have expanded to meet the needs of the community. Today AACI continues to serve immigrants and refugees of all backgrounds and current programs include behavioral and primary health services, substance abuse prevention and treatment, center for survivors of torture, shelter and services for survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking, senior wellness, youth programs, and community advocacy.
Asian Women’s Home provides a safe and confidential shelter to support survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking. This 10-bed shelter is the only domestic violence shelter in Santa Clara County that focuses on the Asian community, and are one of only nine shelters focusing on Asian and Pacific Islander domestic violence survivors in the entire continental U.S. Asian Women’s Home serves everyone regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, immigration status, socioeconomic background, or sexual orientation.
