The communities that HIF serves have been struggling with financial hardship due to the Covid-19 virus and the Shelter in Place order. We are mobilizing to support at least an additional 200 households remained housed during this crisis (up to 500 families for 2020).
Olga and Maksym are fencing coaches at schools in the Bay Area. Due to the Shelter in Place Order they both recently had to stop working and did not have enough to cover their monthly expenses. Thanks to donations to HIF, we processed a grant to cover their rent for the month of April.
They shared this letter with us:
“We wanted to say thank you for your support for covering our apartment rent for April 2020.
We are a family of four and reside in Los Gatos. My husband and I used to be fencing coaches and teach kids fencing in different clubs and schools in Bay Area. Because of COVID-19 and shelter-in-place order, we had to stop working and are having trouble covering our rent. We have two kids and it was a nightmare to realize that we don’t have enough savings to cover our rent and other expenses without continue working. Thanks to HIF we were able to get support sent directly to our apartment landlord.
