“As most people at the beginning of the pandemic were, I was laid off from my job. I have six children that I care for, and without a steady source of income, it was nearly impossible to keep up with all of the bills that were piling up, let alone feed my family. I was fearful of my family’s future, and did not know what was going to happen next. I learned about the HIF through the Salvation Army, but at the time the HIF had reached its limit and was no longer able to help. I was put on a waiting list to receive financial help, but I did not hold much hope that it would happen.
When HIF did reach out to me, I was overwhelmed with joy and relief that my prayers had been answered! With HIF’s help, I was able to take care of so many of my outstanding financial obligations, and a new sense of hope began to build up inside me.
