Janine’s Story

After experiencing domestic violence and significant personal setbacks, Janine found herself struggling to cover rent and basic living expenses while working to rebuild her life. Forced to make difficult financial sacrifices and put essential needs on hold, she feared losing the stability she had worked so hard to regain.

Through her connection with Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County, Janine was referred to HIF’s Emergency Housing Fund. The grant arrived at a critical moment, providing the support she needed to cover her housing costs and remain safely housed. With the immediate financial burden lifted, Janine was able to focus on healing, maintaining employment, and rebuilding her future.

“This support was more than financial—it reminded me that I am not alone. Knowing there are people and organizations who care enough to help gave me hope and encouragement to keep moving forward.”

Today, Janine continues on her path toward long-term stability and is deeply grateful to HIF, Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County, and HIF’s donors for providing not only emergency financial assistance, but also the reassurance that she had support and compassion during one of the most challenging times in her life.
