Amanda Edwards

Amanda Edwards

EVENTS MANAGER

Amanda first came to HIF in 2020, just a couple weeks after the COVID-19 shelter-in-place, from a varied background of non-profit work, events, archaeology, and academia. She initially started in programs, helping run the EHF program in a time of greatly increased demand for our programs. She then kicked off the first-ever outreach campaign for the AHI program, and afterward found her most permanent role in events and development from 2021 on.

Her positions before HIF include working as a coordinator for a CA state executive branch fellowship at Sacramento State University, as an archaeologist, and as a program and events coordinator at a behavioral sciences fellowship at Stanford University. Her experience also includes campaigning against conflict palm oil at the Rainforest Action Network, teaching children about conserving local resources at an interactive museum, and working in multiple labs. Her interest in the non-profit world was first established in high school, when Amanda organized a benefit concert to raise money and awareness for the genocide in Darfur.

She holds an M.A. in anthropology from UC Riverside, and two B.A.s from UC San Diego. Amanda’s anthropological background has greatly informed her commitment to contributing to a more equitable society, and she is delighted to be doing just this at HIF.
