||Robert Freiri, Executive Director
Robert has 32 years’ experience in the non-profit field, eighteen as an Executive Director with Chamberlain’s Children Center, Habitat for Humanity and St. Elizabeth’s Day Home. Robert was named Executive Director of the Housing Industry Foundation in October 2016. Robert brings skills in organizational development, fundraising, volunteer coordination and community outreach. One of Robert’s biggest achievements was getting over one hundred volunteers, including several of the San Francisco 49ers to help build a playground in one day for St. Elizabeth’s Day Home. Robert is also a Rotarian and Past President of Hollister Rotary. Robert was the Chairperson for the 2007 Habitat for Humanity National Conference in New Orleans, LA., the first national conference to be hosted in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Robert’s greatest thrill was meeting and working alongside President Jimmy Carter on a Habitat build site in Los Angeles, CA. Robert and his wife Bridget are Santa Cruz Mountain Residents. Robert’s daughter Tiana attends the University of the Pacific and son Nic attends the University of Tampa.
||Inas Atawneh, Program Manager
Inas oversees both our Emergency Housing Fund and Renovations Program and maintains HIF’s relationship with over 40 partner agencies. She has worked in non-profits for 13 years where she worked at the Arab Cultural & Community Center in San Francisco in leading youth, social service and community programs in San Francisco. Her extensive work in the non-profit sector helped the organization become one of the largest non-profits to serve the Arab community in Northern California.
||Paige Pohlers Meek, Fund Development Manager
Paige has 16 years of experience in the non-profit field and over 25 years in planning events. Paige moved to the Peninsula in 2001 from the east coast and shortly thereafter, began volunteering for the P.A.R.C.A. Auxiliary which still helps to raise funds to help those with developmental disabilities by providing them with homes and services so that they can live rich and independent lives. Paige served in many capacities on their Board and ultimately served as their President. The ongoing need for healthcare for underserved women was and is still being spearheaded, in the Bay Area, by the great works of the Mills Peninsula Hospital Foundation. Paige joined MPHF on their Annual Luncheon Steering Committee for several years and ultimately helped to Chair one of their Annual Speaker Lunches. Paige also served as the Executive Director for the Asia America MultiTechnology Association bringing Technology focused events to the Bay area. Literacy and the need for Libraries have always been a special passions to Paige so she has recently completed a six year commitment to the San Mateo Public Library Foundation serving on their Board and as their President.
||Aziza Megrissi, Office Administrator
Aziza comes to HIF with an impressive non-profit background, strong financial and administrative experience and an advocacy mindset. As HIF’s Office Administrator, Aziza is responsible for ensuring that operations are well run and that resources are maximized. Always interested in service to the community, Aziza has a Domestic Violence Certificate and is a Certified Healthcare Interpreter. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Corporate Finance from San Francisco State University.
In June 1989, four Bay Area apartment owners founded the Apartment Industry Foundation for Housing Assistance, which was later renamed HIF. We are privileged to honor their legacy.
